Communication Tips During COVID-19

Hello,

This infographic accompanies the video I posted on coping with the death of an employee or supporting an employee who has lost a loved one due to COVID-19/Coronavirus.

When you ask, "what can I do to help you?", many times people don’t know what to say because they don't know what you can do.

Or they don't know what they need or want. They may be stressed, overwhelmed, or have a hard time accepting help.

When you say, “let me help you” it implies you CAN help them in some way. You may need to offer ways you help and ask for their agreement. It can sound like this, "Let me help you by doing this or taking this off your plate. Is that OK?"

The tips during an emotional conversation accompany the video I posted yesterday on how to cope if an employees dies of COVID-19 or how to support an employee who lost a loved one. The tips can also help in other difficult conversations. Be well. Be kind.
